Album Notes & Community Reviews

Anchored by the smash hit 'If You Can Want', this album showcases the continued brilliance of Motown's premier poet and vocal group. 'Special Occasion' pairs Smokey Robinson's peerless falsetto and intricate lyricism with the legendary, tight instrumental backing of the Funk Brothers. The record seamlessly updates their classic rhythm and blues sound to compete with the heavier soul styles emerging in the late sixties.
