Doggystyle

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Building upon the G-funk framework of Dr. Dre's 'The Chronic', 'Doggystyle' solidifies the West Coast sound through its multi-layered production, blending P-Funk samples with heavy synthesizers and live instrumentation, all serving as a backdrop for Snoop Dogg's signature laid-back, melodic vocal flow. The album's lyrical realism, which chronicles gang life and hedonism in Long Beach, established Snoop Dogg as a distinctive storyteller and was pivotal in bringing the G-funk subgenre to a mainstream audience, cementing its place as one of the most significant and influential hip-hop records of the 1990s.
