Album Notes & Community Reviews
As a definitive archetype of the late-1950s hard bop style, 'Cool Struttin'' crystallizes the Blue Note label's quintessential sound through its fusion of blues-inflected soul and sophisticated bebop language. The album's historical importance is secured by the masterful interplay within its all-star quintet, pairing Sonny Clark鈥檚 lyrical, swinging piano with the celebrated Miles Davis rhythm section of Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones, alongside horn players Art Farmer and Jackie McLean.
