Album Notes & Community Reviews

Departing from his typical small-group blowing sessions, Sonny Stitt surrounds his formidable tenor and alto playing with the complex, brass-heavy charts of Johnny Richards. The ambitious orchestrations bridge progressive big band aesthetics with blazing, highly articulate modern jazz improvisation. The album is a brilliant showcase of Stitt's ability to dominate within a highly structured environment.
