Sonny Is King

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Separating temporarily from his long-time partner Brownie McGhee, the legendary harmonica player leads a gritty, deeply percussive set of acoustic country blues. His signature technique of rapid, whooping vocal interjections between harp blasts creates an incredibly dense, rhythmic solo sound. The session perfectly captures the unadulterated, raw energy of the Piedmont tradition.
