Album Notes & Community Reviews
The legendary West Coast rap collective teams up entirely with producer Adrian Younge for this remarkably ambitious, heavily conceptual sixth studio album. 'There Is Only Now' is driven by Younge's incredible, fully analog instrumentation, providing a deeply cinematic, jazz-inflected 1970s backdrop for the group's highly intricate storytelling concerning a kidnapping narrative. The record serves as a brilliantly conscious, highly rhythmic, and deeply nostalgic hip-hop achievement.
