The Light the Dead See

Album Notes & Community Reviews

For their fourth album, the British production duo Rich Machin and Ian Glover enlisted Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan to provide lead vocals and lyrics for the entire project. The resulting record leans heavily into sweeping, cinematic gospel and blues-rock arrangements, heavily utilizing string sections, Hammond organs, and backing choirs. Gahan's weathered, deeply soulful baritone perfectly anchors the grand, melancholic atmosphere, resulting in a profoundly powerful and cohesive collaboration.
