Album Notes & Community Reviews
Bridging the gap between their edgy New Romantic origins and their future as polished blue-eyed soul hitmakers, the group's sophomore effort was heavily shaped by producer Richard James Burgess. 'Diamond' features an ambitious fusion of cold, synthesized post-punk aesthetics and prominent funk influences, yielding the notable single 'Chant No. 1 (I Don't Need This Pressure On)'. The project captures a transitional, highly rhythmic phase for the iconic London band.
