Graeme Revell completely abandoned SPK's early, abrasive industrial noise to create a hauntingly beautiful, deeply orchestrated work of ritual ambient music. The album utilizes choral arrangements, tribal percussion, and dark atmospheric synthesizers to explore themes of Byzantine history and the occult. It is a profoundly sombre, mysterious record that proved highly influential to the neoclassical darkwave movement.
