Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded primarily on the grounds of the Kinshasa zoo, this extraordinary debut captures a street musicians' collective comprised largely of paraplegic polio survivors. Fusing classic Congolese rumba with R&B and reggae elements, the acoustic arrangements are deeply enriched by the use of a one-stringed tin-can lute called the satong茅. The music radiates a profound, rhythmic joy and resilience against overwhelming adversity.
