Album Notes & Community Reviews

Pairing Stanley Turrentine's muscular tenor saxophone with his wife Shirley Scott's Hammond organ, 'Dearly Beloved' is a cornerstone of the Blue Note soul jazz catalog. The album features a remarkably relaxed, intimate atmosphere, favoring slow-burning blues and gospel-inflected ballads over high-speed improvisational workouts. It perfectly captures the deeply empathetic musical dialogue that defined their numerous collaborations.
