Album Notes & Community Reviews

Following significant lineup changes including the addition of guitarists Martin Carthy and Ashley Hutchings, the pioneering electric folk group drastically retooled their sound. Dispensing entirely with a drummer, the album relies on intricate, heavily distorted dual-guitar interplay supporting Maddy Prior's soaring vocal interpretations of traditional English balladry. It is an innovative, remarkably heavy masterpiece of the British folk revival.
