Album Notes & Community Reviews

Conceived largely to accompany an off-Broadway play, the veteran songwriter dedicates this album to the twenty-nine miners who perished in the tragic 2010 Upper Big Branch Mine disaster. The earthy, bluegrass-inflected arrangements serve as a powerful vehicle for empathetic, working-class storytelling from the perspective of the miners and their grieving families.
