Album Notes & Community Reviews
Steven Wilson鈥檚 fifth solo album, *To the Bone*, marks a decisive pivot from his progressive rock roots towards the ambitious, intelligent pop of his youth. Drawing explicit inspiration from 80s touchstones like Peter Gabriel鈥檚 *So*, the record trades sprawling epics for meticulously crafted, hook-laden songs. Beneath a warm, lush production co-helmed by Paul Stacey, Wilson鈥檚 intricate arrangements explore contemporary anxieties of post-truth and extremism. While its embrace of accessible melodies proved divisive, the album became a commercial breakthrough, showcasing a master craftsman refracting complex ideas through a vibrant, pop-oriented lens.
