Album Notes & Community Reviews

Further distancing himself from the novelty of his early child-star image, 'Down to Earth' finds a teenage Stevie Wonder handling a broader array of sophisticated soul arrangements. The record features a blend of propulsive Motown stompers and nuanced, Bob Dylan-influenced balladry, marking a crucial step in his artistic maturation. It lays the groundwork for the creative independence he would demand in the 1970s.
