Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded in the cavernous acoustic space of a 14th-century abbey in Avignon, this album utilizes the staggering fourteen-second reverberation time to create overlapping, deeply meditative harmonic textures. Stuart Dempster's trombone improvisations morph into immense, glowing drones, completely altering the conventional sound of the instrument. It produced an essential, transcendent piece of acoustic ambient and minimalist composition.
