Antidepressants

Antidepressants cover art

As the band's designated post-punk statement, 'Antidepressants' builds on the guitar-led approach of its predecessor, incorporating gothic rock textures, tribal drumming, and ethereal keys under the guidance of producer Ed Buller. Frontman Brett Anderson expands his vocal palette with more frequent use of spoken-word delivery while lyrically exploring themes of mortality and modern disconnection, yet often pivots towards an optimistic perspective that champions music as a source of connection. Conceived as the second installment in a proposed trilogy of 'black and white' albums, the critically acclaimed record was noted for an urgent, stylized sound that simultaneously recalled the band's classic early work and felt contemporary.
