Constructed as a profound farewell following the tragic passing of drummer Charles Gocher, 'Funeral Mariachi' is the deeply moving final transmission from the legendary experimental trio. The record is uncharacteristically focused and melodic, drawing heavily from Morricone-esque Spaghetti Western soundtracks and Arabic folk traditions to create a hauntingly beautiful desert atmosphere. It provides a poignant, graceful conclusion to one of the American underground's most wildly unpredictable acts.
