Album Notes & Community Reviews
Marking a notable stylistic pivot, 'Lanquidity' finds Sun Ra guiding his Arkestra into territories of funk, R&B, and hypnotic jazz fusion. The album is defined by its dense, languid grooves and rhythmic complexity, a sound distinguished by the rare inclusion of two guitars and Sun Ra's own textured layers of electric piano and synthesizer. Bob Blank's production captures the ensemble's sprawling, single-night session with a curiously thick and atmospheric quality, creating one of the most uniquely accessible entries in the band's extensive catalog.
