Album Notes & Community Reviews

Stepping away from his massive Arkestra, the legendary cosmic bandleader opted for an intimate quartet setting during these rare Italian studio sessions. Joined by John Gilmore, Michael Ray, and Luqman Ali, 'New Steps' highlights Ra's eccentric yet deeply rooted post-bop piano playing amidst sparse, passionate improvisation.
