Omniverse

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded in a notably stripped-down quartet format, 'Omniverse' offers a rare, intimate look at Sun Ra's piano mastery outside the chaotic density of the full Arkestra. John Gilmore's soulful tenor saxophone work intertwines seamlessly with Ra's sprawling, percussive improvisations and blues-rooted chordings. The session highlights an unexpectedly mellow, acoustic brilliance from the cosmic jazz pioneer.
