Solo Piano, Vol. 1

Album Notes & Community Reviews

A rare departure from his expansive Arkestra recordings, Sun Ra explores the acoustic piano in an intimate, unaccompanied setting. The performances bridge early jazz stride and blues traditions with his characteristic avant-garde dissonance and cosmic philosophy. It provides a stark, revealing look at the foundational piano technique behind his eclectic compositions.
