Album Notes & Community Reviews

Operating with an unusually stripped-down quartet iteration of the Arkestra, this recording focuses intimately on the bandleader's idiosyncratic keyboard explorations. Sun Ra makes extensive early use of the Minimoog synthesizer and the Rocksichord, injecting his swinging bop foundations with squelching, cosmic electronic textures. It functions as one of his more accessible yet undeniably strange transitions into 1970s jazz-funk.
