Album Notes & Community Reviews
Featuring an expanded Arkestra lineup, 'The Other Side of the Sun' contrasts moments of swing-era lucidity with explosive, cosmic dissonance. John Gilmore's masterful tenor saxophone solos serve as an anchor amidst the chaotic, polyrhythmic percussion and wandering synthesizer lines. The performance exemplifies the collective's ability to collapse decades of jazz history into a single, cohesive extraterrestrial vision.
