An Even Break (Never Give a Sucker)

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded in Paris during a legendary exodus of American free jazz musicians, the pioneering drummer helms an intensely spiritual, uninhibited session for BYG Actuel. The chaotic, polyrhythmic flow is augmented by fierce saxophone dialogues and powerful spoken-word poetry, capturing the radical, politically charged energy of the era. It is a highly demanding, uncompromising masterclass in abstract rhythm and collective improvisation.
