Album Notes & Community Reviews

Making his incredibly anticipated debut on the legendary Blue Note label, the Japanese trumpeter delivers a remarkably vibrant, deeply soulful collection of modern jazz. Produced entirely by Jos茅 James, 'Rising Son' heavily incorporates the driving, repetitive rhythms of hip-hop and funk underneath incredibly warm, highly melodic brass improvisations. The record serves as a wonderfully playful, remarkably accessible, and brilliantly executed jazz-funk crossover.
