Album Notes & Community Reviews

'Metakosmos' is the debut album by the two-piano duo of Greek pianist Tania Giannouli and Swiss pianist Nik B盲rtsch, who had performed together for three years before recording it. The repertoire reworks material from Giannouli's earlier recordings, including 'Intone' from her album 'Solo', recast here as 'Intonal'. B盲rtsch's zen-funk minimalism meets Giannouli's folkloric and classical influences, with Eastern and Byzantine melodic ornaments unfolding through interactive improvisation rather than conventional solos.
