On their fourth album 'Shake the Sheets', Ted Leo + The Pharmacists moved towards a more direct, stripped-down power-trio sound, leaving behind some of the more varied instrumentation of previous efforts for a focused set of urgent, guitar-driven songs. The album balances fiercely political themes, often reflecting the anxiety of the Bush administration era, with deeply personal narratives like the one in the single "Me and Mia." Critically lauded upon its 2004 release as a potent blend of punk energy and sharp, melodic songwriting, it was the band's final album for Lookout! Records.
