Album Notes & Community Reviews

While their peers were riding the celebratory wave of Britpop, Luke Haines and The Auteurs delivered a profoundly cynical and sneeringly sophisticated rock album. Infused with dark character studies and jagged, glam-rock guitars, the record stands as a brilliant, contrarian alternative to the dominant British musical trends of the era.
