Album Notes & Community Reviews

Produced by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos, this raucous debut album perfectly captured the unhinged, beer-soaked energy of the San Diego roots-rock revival. 'Tales of the New West' rapidly shifts between high-velocity, punk-inflected rockabilly and deeply sincere, traditional country balladry, anchored by Country Dick Montana's booming baritone and irreverent humor. The record was highly instrumental in bridging the gap between underground punk and alternative country.
