Collaborating with renowned pop producer Paul Epworth, the British duo intentionally streamlined the heavily distorted shoegaze elements of their celebrated debut. The sophomore effort leans heavily into brightly polished synthesizer pop and prominent hip-hop drum loops, favoring massive, stadium-ready choruses over dense atmospheric noise. While undeniably more accessible, the dramatic stylistic pivot generated a highly polarized reception among their original alternative fanbase.
