Album Notes & Community Reviews

Captured at the height of his late-career resurgence, this Las Vegas engagement demonstrates the legendary drummer's successful modernization of the big band format. The explosive, fiercely disciplined orchestra integrates contemporary rock and soul-jazz hits, including the massively popular title track, into dense, high-velocity arrangements. The relentless, athletic drumming effectively proved that large-ensemble jazz could still thrive commercially in the rock era through sheer aggressive volume and technical virtuosity.
