Co-produced with Duran Duran's Nick Rhodes, the Portland outfit sharply pivoted toward a slick, synthesizer-driven aesthetic deeply indebted to 1980s new wave. The satirical, highly polished record actively eschewed their previous fuzz-heavy psych-rock in favor of icy, dance-oriented club grooves.
