Album Notes & Community Reviews

The veteran Portland indie-folk outfit enlists producer John Congleton to significantly modernize their typically acoustic, maritime-themed sound. The remarkably synth-heavy, highly melodic record explores themes of political despair and nihilism through surprisingly upbeat, 1980s-inspired pop-rock arrangements. It acts as a polarizing, boldly unexpected stylistic pivot for the beloved folk-rock ensemble.
