Album Notes & Community Reviews
Stripping away their prog-rock pretensions, The Decemberists deliver a straightforward homage to R.E.M. and The Band. 'The King Is Dead' features Peter Buck on guitar and focuses on concise, rustic folk-rock songs. It is their most accessible and grounded album, rooted in the traditions of American roots music.
