Nineteen tracks frame Stravinsky's ballet-cantata with fifteen genuine village wedding songs, three before and twelve after, sung in Russian by unpolished folk voices. In place of the score's four pianos, the accompaniment is computer-programmed, an innovation identified in Ethnomusicology's review of the recording, and the sessions were recorded at Mosfilm Studio in Moscow.
