Album Notes & Community Reviews

'Feelin Kinda Free' marks a radical departure from The Drones' established rock sound, embracing a visceral and ominous style built on prominent electronic textures, drum machines, and synthesizers while heavily treating or minimizing guitars. Gareth Liddiard's songwriting moves into darker, more politically-charged territory, with jagged, anti-anthemic compositions exploring themes of Australian identity, xenophobia, and global conflict. The band's genre-defying final studio album was also their highest-charting release, earning critical recognition for its eclectic production and historical significance as a key Australian album of its decade.
