Album Notes & Community Reviews

As a landmark release for Hawaiian folk music, 'Volume 1' showcases the virtuosic slack-key guitar playing of Gabby Pahinui alongside a robust ensemble. The sessions notably feature contributions from mainland musician Ry Cooder, which helped introduce traditional island techniques to a broader Western audience. The recording beautifully preserves the warm, lush folklore of the region through intricate acoustic arrangements.
