Album Notes & Community Reviews
An exquisite, heartbreaking collection of bittersweet jangle pop, '16 Lovers Lane' focuses heavily on warm acoustic textures, lush strings, and gorgeous, interlocking vocal melodies. The songwriting duo of Robert Forster and Grant McLennan reached their romantic, melodic zenith here, crafting deeply sentimental tales of spring love and romantic fallout. It is widely considered the absolute pinnacle of 80s Australian indie pop, radiating a mellow, melancholic beauty.
