Arriving over a decade after their debut, the British supergroup spearheaded by Damon Albarn reunites to deliver a deeply melancholic, highly cynical autopsy of Brexit-era Britain. Produced by Tony Visconti, the incredibly dense, theatrical record utilizes vintage organs, gothic choirs, and Paul Simonon's dub-heavy basslines to construct a somber, carnival-esque atmosphere. It serves as a beautiful, highly pessimistic elegy for a fractured national identity.
