Album Notes & Community Reviews

The Chicago-based husband-and-wife duo achieved significant critical acclaim with this profoundly dark, macabre take on Americana. Brett Sparks' booming baritone delivers Rennie Sparks' incredibly morbid, literary lyrics over sparse country instrumentation, establishing a distinctly gothic, murder-ballad aesthetic that deeply influenced the alternative country landscape.
