Album Notes & Community Reviews
The group took its name from Newcastle's High Level Bridge and the Cheviot Ranters, and formed in 1964 at the Bridge Folk Club as pioneers of the Northumbrian smallpipes revival. The classic lineup of Alistair Anderson, Tommy Gilfellon, Johnny Handle and Colin Ross coalesced around this early LP, and the band went on to record two sessions for John Peel, in 1972 and 1974.
