Moving away from the frantic screamo of their debut, the Los Angeles quintet embraced a sleazier, blues-drenched approach to noise rock on this second full-length. The recording sessions were famously volatile, resulting in a dark, drug-addled atmosphere that permeates the heavy distortion and Joe Cardamone's sneering vocals. It is often cited as a cornerstone of the early 2000s art-punk resurgence in Southern California.
