Album Notes & Community Reviews

Reunited with guitarist Kenny Burrell and drummer Grady Tate, Jimmy Smith delivers an absolute masterclass in the deeply grooving, blues-drenched Hammond B-3 organ trio format. Moving away from the large orchestral arrangements of his previous Verve albums, the session focuses entirely on tight, greasy, late-night soul-jazz improvisations. It remains one of the most defining and swinging statements of his prolific career.
