Album Notes & Community Reviews

Defined entirely by its explosive title track, 'Twist & Shout!' captures The Isley Brothers distilling pure, unbridled energy into early 60s rhythm and blues. The record functions largely to capitalize on the dance craze of the era, yet the raw vocal power of Ronald Isley elevates the material beyond simple novelty. The arrangements heavily influenced the forthcoming British Beat movement, most notably The Beatles.
