The final studio album from The Jam saw Paul Weller steering the punk trio heavily toward Motown-inspired R&B and blue-eyed soul before disbanding the group. Featuring the iconic bassline of 'Town Called Malice', 'The Gift' is a remarkably energetic, highly melodic fusion of punchy power pop and deeply conscious, politically driven examinations of British class alienation.
