Album Notes & Community Reviews

Facing the significant departure of co-founder Mark Olson, the Minneapolis band persevered under the singular leadership of Gary Louris for their fifth album. 'Sound of Lies' noticeably scales back their signature country-rock twang, leaning heavily into sophisticated, melancholic power-pop and expansive, slightly darker alternative rock textures.
