Album Notes & Community Reviews
A foundational document of the hard bop genre, this recording captures the original incarnation of the legendary ensemble led by Art Blakey and Horace Silver. The driving, blues-drenched performances at the intimate New York club helped steer jazz away from the cool, intellectual West Coast sound back toward a heavy, rhythmic swing.
