'Automatic' captures the Reid brothers pivoting towards a sleeker, heavily synthesized aesthetic without abandoning their signature guitar fuzz. Driven by synthesized basslines and mechanical drum machines, the album delivers highly rhythmic, nocturnal alternative rock anthems that presaged the alternative dance boom of the 90s.
