Recorded during a period of intense internal friction between the Davies brothers, 'UK Jive' is a heavily synthesized artifact of late-80s corporate rock. Ray Davies' trademark observational songwriting occasionally cuts through the slick, gated-snare production, addressing political decline and environmental issues. It was a critical and commercial disappointment, leading to their subsequent departure from MCA Records.
